1) Pick three aspects of camera movement in the clip. Identify the type of camera movement and write about why the director chose to use that camera movement in the scene and what effect it has on the audience.
In the beginning of the scene the camera movement is slow yet sharp which can connote that something is going to pop up this creates suspense for the audience and intrigues us into the scene.
The camera movement at 1:07 is a crane shot allows the camera to move smoothly above the character introducing the setting and creating a suspenseful scene as the speed of the scene increases gradually.
At 0:18 there is a pan, this is when a man on the train is holding a newspaper with the man who is being hunted, a pan between the realization of a man who’s being hunted and a civilian on the same bus, in fact in close proximity, the suspense is created through the quick movement in the pan. The placement of the two characters in addition to the cut makes it seem as if there is an unseen link between the characters.
2) Pick two aspects of editing in the clip and write about what effect it has on the audience.
In the beginning there isn't much happening in the scene so the editing is at a slow pace to build tension however when the precrime division locate him towards the middle the pace of editing is suddenly accelerates which is a key concept of the genre as this usually done in action movies to show how much tension the character is experiencing.
3) Finally, revise last week's work on camerawork by picking out two shots or camera angles in the clip that communicate meaning to the audience.
The eye line match at 0:34 allows the audience to feel the emotion which the protagonist is feeling when he is found by his squad. The two shots perfectly match as they are at the same height and position. This match is accompanied by heart pumping music and faster camera work. which all build suspense during the scene.
The higher camera angle at 1:48 can suggest that the main character is exposed to his downfall and hence is intimidated by the crowd of characters of the story which have a higher degree of authority and power we can deduce this by their angelic look. This also means that the character being put under threat has nowhere to run and that the audience should perceive the police as having a much more infallible power as of the protagonist.
