Denotation

Connotation
The boy is wearing a faded blue shirt which appears to be very old and dirty this can connote that he is not able to afford more clothes and may be living in poverty.
Analysis
The large text in the left hand side of the image reads 'Dig toilets Not graves' since this text is bold and big it stands out also because of the colour. The audience can then really feel sympathy for the boy. In addition the boy has a serious look on his face denoting that they are being truthful about what they said in the large text.
Denotation
A yellow car (Mini GTS) which appears to be going very fast on a race track above the car is some black text reading 'For little old ladies, it ain't'
Connotation
The car which is the colour yellow can connote happiness since yellow is the colour of the sunshine and is the brightest colour the human eye can see. Those who choose to drive a yellow car are fun, energetic, cheerful and are always eager to please others
Analysis
The black text above the car reads 'For little old ladies, it ain't' this quotation enforces the gender and elderly stereotypes that cars aren't for 'little old ladies' because they are for masculine men seeing as they are faster and cooler. Older female audience may take offence from this as they may even be passionate about cars.
