Key Concepts film poster analysis

INTERCEPTOR (2022)

LANGUAGE

The INTERCEPTOR film poster is immediately recognizable as a film poster because the actor names are placed on the right side of the poster along the bottom just above the film's title. The title 'INTERCEPTOR' is the largest text on the poster which clearly communicates to the audience that this is the title. The title is in bold black capitals to emphasizes the title which stands out against the murky blue background and the greenish blue colour scheme has connotations of the sea and the genre of military action due to the missiles hovering in the background. The central image is of a woman hanging over a deep fall over the ocean. The city in the bottom segment of the image could suggest life - emphasizing the danger and death of the missiles below. This image suggests the film has elements of action.

INDUSTRIES

Interceptor is a 2022 action drama film directed by Matthew Reilly from a screenplay that he co-wrote with Stuart Beattie. The film stars Elsa Pataky and Luke BraceyInterceptor was released globally on Netflix on 3 June 2022.

AUDIENCE

The target audience for INTERCEPTOR would likely be teenagers and adults - perhaps from 12-37 years old. The film was rated 15A by the Netflix corporation. The target gender for The Meg would be both males and females but perhaps slightly more males as it involves a military storyline however does contain a female protagonist. In terms of audience pleasures, someone might enjoy INTERCEPTOR because the missile scenes will be dramatic and full of action and danger. The film will provide suspense and plot twists to make them forget about normal life. The audience will also want the main character to survive and will be scared when they are in danger.

REPRESENTATION

There is only one person on the film poster which makes it difficult to analyze the representation. However, the main star is Elsa Pataky, who is a famous actress, and the character on the poster appears to be a female which subverts the expectation of a military film.
